Smooth Fitness 7.35 Treadmill

I have been delighted with this treadmill since I ordered it over 1 year ago. The delivery was great - it comes in folded down in one great big box. Assembly was very easy. The cables were pre-run though the tubes, the directions for assembly were easy to follow, and it was packed very efficiently!

I have run several hundred miles and after one year the treadmill shows little to no wear. The belt looks like it did day one! all the mechanical parts appear to be solid and when I run there is no shaking, unusual noises or broken parts. I run a lot and tend to be hard on treadmills and this has handled the first year flawlessly.

The only thing that could use some development for the future is the fan. It is pretty worthless for cooling. I use a large fan for every run anyway so this isn't a deal-breaker for me. Outside of the fan, this treadmill is super solid and I would recommend for anyone!

I spent a lot of time researching the treadmill I wanted to buy. I looked at places like Consumer Reports and Treadmill Doctor for advise. I also relied heavily on Amazon.com reviews.

I just received a 7.35 on 6/29/12, purchased directly on Smooth's website, and so far it is working great.

After looking at Sole and Nordictrack at my local Sears and some of the other brands at the local sporting goods store, I was let down. Nothing seemed to have the quality I wanted except for non-folding models from high-end companies like Precor. But I needed a folding model and kept coming back to Smooth for the features and apparent quality (Consumer Reports gives high marks).

I almost let the bad reviews sway me but then I thought about the fact that the competition is perfectly capable of posting smearing reviews. I can't tell you what percent of negative reviews are made up or legitimate but I can tell you that you should not count Smooth out during your evaluation process. I took a leap of faith by ordering it and I'm very happy that I did. I don't doubt that there have been quality issues and lemons, that's a part of manufacturing, but my experience has been very positive.

By the way, I'm 260 lbs and I can jog on this thing without a problem. The quality of the machine and the packaging that it comes is is outstanding. You feel good when it is delivered that it arrived to you without damage.

I will say, the fan and speakers do indeed suck. Just keep a radio and bigger fan close by.

One note about their customer service. When I placed my original order, they ended up being out of stock. Their customer service called me to apologize for the delay that would cause and offered me a free mat to go under the treadmill.

If I experience any problems, I'll update this review.
