performs better than expected May 6, 2011
By pookieswife
VERY pleased with the Proform 705 CST treadmill - 75 miles in the 3 weeks I've owned it. Speakers are much better than expected so I can really blast the music and enjoy a nice jog! Only disappoint was delivery - not only did they run over my sidewalk and destroy several pieces of bluestone (never returned my calls - it was $500.00 to repair), but a few pieces of the treadmill were cracked so obviously they dropped it at some point. Fortunately it didn't impact the performance of the treadmill. Highly recommend it, but get a floor mat - especially if you have hard wood floors. It is impossible to put together with 1 person, but relatively easy with 2 people - just carefully read the instructions and follow the correct order to assemble. (Sounds obvious, but an overzealous husband who "knows what he's doing" had to start over a few times.)

satisfied June 13, 2011
By J. Cheung
I've have been running on the Proform 705 CST treadmill almost every day for the past two weeks since I got it and have, so far, been satisfied with it. It is smooth and stable while providing ample cushioning for my 5'8, 153lb frame. Its console's quick speed and incline buttons are very handy, and its display easy to read. I have yet to try any of its programmed workouts or Ifit, but its 12 mph max speed and 12% max incline are sufficient for my fitness purposes. Some of its caveats include its lack of pace in the customary min/mile, its broken heart rate monitor, and its wildly inaccurate calorie counter. In addition, its speakers sound terrible. However, these are only minor issues that haven't affected my workouts. I haven't tried any of the other treadmills in this price range, but I would recommend this one to any recreational/fitness runner on a budget.

Good deal, way better treadmill than I had before March 23, 2011
By Peter Ortiz
We've had the treadmill now for a couple weeks. I really like it. We had a proform 630DS bought from craigslist a couple years ago and it was dying. Based on Consumer Reports ratings and other research, I decided on this model.

The setup wasn't too bad; just follow the directions. It will go faster with 2 people.

It's UBER quiet. But, that's based off my previous treadmill that sounded like a freight train. The motor, deck, supports, etc, are all very sturdy from what I can tell.

My wife likes the quick buttons and the pre-programmed workouts and uses it at least every other day. I usually run 1 - 2 times per week at 8mph and 4.5 grade with occasional sprints of 10 and 12...I have no idea if that's good or not compared to other users. There is no slippage reported and the deck stays comfortable.

All in all, I would definitely recommend this product. Am very happy with it. If something changes, I'll update the review.

Great treadmill for home, March 6, 2012
By martian12
I recently upgraded to the ProForm Power 995 from a very old treadmill. I've been very happy with it. It took about 3 hours to put together, but the instructions were clear and we had no mysterious parts left over. The tread is extra long and glides smoothly and sits atop a superbly stable deck. The quick buttons are great for manual programs and quickly changing up the speed and incline. The programs aren't too bad, but some of them were not of an intensity I prefer. I was constantly bumping up the speed and/or incline to challenge myself. My husband suspects this was intentional to encourage the use of the iFit function, but that's not something I've tried yet. The pulse sensors aren't consistently accurate, but I don't need a meter to tell me whether or not I'm in a-fib, so that's not a huge issue. The fan has two (barely indiscernible) speeds and is a nice feature. The speakers are pretty darn good. The deck is easy to lift into the stowed position and even easier to lower. Overall, I'm very pleased with this machine!

Great Workout January 4, 2012
By Ima Bird
Takes some time and concentration to assemble. Unlikely that one person could do it. Very heavy and delivery guy works alone and does not want to help bring it into your house. Slides well on the carpet. Fairly large and needs an outlet of it's own to keep from burning it up. We hired an electrician to install an outlet and he charged $130.00. If you do not have a separate outlet your warranty may not be valid.

awesome treadmill February 1, 2011
By Pamela D. James
After a couple of rough deliveries, we received our treadmill, was not difficult to put together and works great. It is exactly as described. Customer service was fantastic the 2 times I had to call them. Did not have to wait long for them to answer the phone, and they spoke English.

Sturdy!, May 14, 2012
By BSmith22
Given the affordability of this treadmill, I tried not to expect too much but bought it based on the great reviews. When it came, I was instantly impressed with the sturdiness of the parts. It took my husband and I about three hours to put together, but the instructions were understandable and provided easy-to-follow diagrams.

We've now had it for a few weeks and have logged almost 50 miles on it, split between my husband and me. I was initially worried as to how it would handle my husband's 250 lbs and large frame (especially when he's sprinting at an incline), but it can take a beating and keep on going.

My only complaint is that the display is not back-lit, so we had to purposely place the treadmill directly under an overhead light in our dimly-lit basement so that we would be able to read the display. It's a helpful display, though, providing mileage, calories burned, distance, heart rate, incline and speed.

Overall, I'm very impressed with the quality of this treadmill at this affordable price!

Nice machine!, May 10, 2012
By Schmoopie. (Arizona)
I bought this a little over a month ago and have been very happy with it. It looks and works like the treadmills that cost $1000. The price/value ratio is excellent. The digital display is a bit primitive and should be upgraded, but I can overlook that when all things are considered. Can't believe that Amazon shipped it for free! All things considered, it functions properly, runs quietly, and looks pretty stylish in the house. I would highly recommend.

5 star because I am considering it cost Less than a thousand.., May 6, 2012
By Gustavo
I was thinking to rate this treadmill with a 4 star, or maybe a 3, but I should be fair considering I took this tradmill for it price!, so I choose 5 because you can't expect to get a 3000 dollar tradmill for only 1000!..So, for this range of price I believe is the best treadmill you can get out there.

It's very solid, and easy to assemble, you would need a second person to help you with the console. Just follow step by step the manual instruction, and take your time, you know this will take 2 or 3 hr, so,...if you have to get out in 1 hr, better begin the task next day.

The quick buttons are really really good if you are planning to do a HIIT training, is why I bought this model too beside the price

Also if you are doing the P90x, and you are already after your 90 days..so ...maybe boring, this machine will boost your training and get you out of the boring phase. You can for example run after finish the routine of the day, or instead to do Kempo for ex, get on the treadmill, ...but you will find the conbination will work better for you.

About the different exercises or programmes, there are no so manys of them, and the reason is clear, Proform want to sell the Ifit programme system, so,.. will be not good buisness for them if they sell to you a machine with hundred of programmes that will make unusefull the Ifit system. I am using it in manual because as I said, I am doing HIIT programmes, and I also have Nike 5, 10, and 21 Km training programmes, all of them you can get online, and to be sincerelly even going to the gym i never was using their programmes, just in manual. But if you are the ones who use a lot the differents training programmes, maybe this is not your treadmill.
The computer never ask your body weight, so, how it make the calculation to be able to give you the burn calories??..well maybe using magic!...

What I wanted to say in general on this review is that, if this treadmill in some moment come to his original listed price, maybe you can get better options...

It is also a nice furniture!!..jaja, when your friend will be visiting you they'll be definitly jealous watching this machine and realizing that you are in a better shape than all of them!! ; ).

I will try to put a video too, just to try to show you the most most important feature of this treadmill, the cushion system!!.

thank you.

So Far, So Good,,,, March 5, 2011
By Jaclyn Womack
We've had it for about 72 hours now. We didn't buy it from Amazon, but paid a similar price. We splurged and had someone deliver and assemble it. Considering the man does it all day, every day....and it still took him over two hours to complete assembly, I'd say it was money well spent!

We are NOT runners by nature, so take this review for what it's worth, as my opinion is going to vary from people who are already capable of running marathons. We are overweight, but not obese, this machine is supposed to be able to handle up to 300lbs, but neither of us approach the limit. That said, this machine is very stable, even when I'm not exactly the most graceful of people jogging on it. The water in my water bottle doesn't even twitch. It's not whisper quiet, but you can hear your music or the TV over it well enough, at a slightly elevated volume.

This unit DOES NOT include the iFit module, which is, currently, another $120-$130 to buy - the service/website is then free for the first year and then $80/year after that. We went out and bought that today. We're still putzing around with settings, but you can configure it to update onto Facebook and it tracks all of your workouts. You can have two different users on a module, so my husband and I will be tracked separately. You can track your calorie intake and burn, with commonly eaten food calorie counts available right on the website and the option to input calories on a freeform basis. There are spots to keep track of your measurements, etc. As you can see, it's a pretty nifty option...that DOESN'T come standard with the unit and, honestly, was one of the main reasons we bought this machine, thinking it did.

There is an iPod jack and wire that jacks into the headphone jack of your iPod. Playback is ok on the treadmill speakers. It's a little tinny, but...yeah, it's a treadmill not a stereo component. It beats having the earbuds in, at any rate.

The one thing that I really don't like about this unit is the very oddly shaped, cubish, fairly shallow cubbies for water/remotes/whatever. I have a 24oz waterbottle and it just doesn't sit in there right. I was worried it would fall out with the vibration but, as I mentioned earlier, the water doesn't even move at a slow jog. (I haven't gotten up any higher than a slow jog just yet...) and the cable remote also sits strangely in the other cubbie. I would have preferred a dedicated, obvious drink holder. As for the remote, I think I'm going to get a bit of adhesive backed hook and loop fastener to solve that problem.

The 10% incline and the max speed on this unit more than serves the need of two fairly sedentary people just getting back into being active. If you're already all big and bad and buff, you're probably going to want to keep looking for something else that's designed for your needs. All in all, a really good entry level machine.
