Surprisingly good for few $$, May 15, 2012

I bought this unit to create a walking desk for my home office. It's short enough to fit the space I need. The build quality is pretty good. The arm assembly is not as solid as a $2000 treadmill, but what do you expect? It's easy to move, and folds up to a small footprint. This machine is noticeably quieter than a large NordicTrack treadmill I owned. I'm 5'8" and the stride length is OK for me. I use it at 2mph, which keeps my stride length short and still allows for decent control using a computer mouse. I put the mouse and keyboard on a thin, stiff board that rests on the handlebar assembly, right where the padding for your hands starts. Works great.

The machine developed a squeak on the right side of the walking deck, which is a 3/4" sheet of some strong material with super-slippery top surface. This sheet was rubbing very slightly against the metal frame. I had a can of 100% silicone spray, and gave a quick, sweeping shot of silicone down the length of the deck on each side, spraying it in between the top of the deck and the plastic sideguard pieces. Problem solved. I then locked the deck in the upright storage position and turned on the machine to a slow speed. I gave a few squirts to the underside of the belt, just as it hits the drive roller at the front of the machine. This lubed the belt, and made the walking experience even smoother. Warning: Silicone spray is almost impossible to get off, so protect your floor with newspapers, and wipe up any excess. Also, don't get silicone on the top of the walking belt! Final safety note: if you have toddlers playing near the machine as it runs, there is a pinch hazard if they stick their hand in under the belt at the back of the walking surface.

That's it. I would buy it again. This is a great value.
