Smooth Fitness 7.35 Folding Treadmill Customer Review
Smooth Fitness 7.35 Treadmill
July 21, 2012 - By Michael S. MckinneyI have been delighted with this treadmill since I ordered it over 1 year ago. The delivery was great - it comes in folded down in one great big box. Assembly was very easy. The cables were pre-run though the tubes, the directions for assembly were easy to follow, and it was packed very efficiently!
I have run several hundred miles and after one year the treadmill shows little to no wear. The belt looks like it did day one! all the mechanical parts appear to be solid and when I run there is no shaking, unusual noises or broken parts. I run a lot and tend to be hard on treadmills and this has handled the first year flawlessly.
The only thing that could use some development for the future is the fan. It is pretty worthless for cooling. I use a large fan for every run anyway so this isn't a deal-breaker for me. Outside of the fan, this treadmill is super solid and I would recommend for anyone!
I'm not sure all of the negative reviews are legit
July 2, 2012 - By Brian Pozar (Visalia, CA United States)I spent a lot of time researching the treadmill I wanted to buy. I looked at places like Consumer Reports and Treadmill Doctor for advise. I also relied heavily on Amazon.com reviews.
I just received a 7.35 on 6/29/12, purchased directly on Smooth's website, and so far it is working great.
After looking at Sole and Nordictrack at my local Sears and some of the other brands at the local sporting goods store, I was let down. Nothing seemed to have the quality I wanted except for non-folding models from high-end companies like Precor. But I needed a folding model and kept coming back to Smooth for the features and apparent quality (Consumer Reports gives high marks).
I almost let the bad reviews sway me but then I thought about the fact that the competition is perfectly capable of posting smearing reviews. I can't tell you what percent of negative reviews are made up or legitimate but I can tell you that you should not count Smooth out during your evaluation process. I took a leap of faith by ordering it and I'm very happy that I did. I don't doubt that there have been quality issues and lemons, that's a part of manufacturing, but my experience has been very positive.
By the way, I'm 260 lbs and I can jog on this thing without a problem. The quality of the machine and the packaging that it comes is is outstanding. You feel good when it is delivered that it arrived to you without damage.
I will say, the fan and speakers do indeed suck. Just keep a radio and bigger fan close by.
One note about their customer service. When I placed my original order, they ended up being out of stock. Their customer service called me to apologize for the delay that would cause and offered me a free mat to go under the treadmill.
If I experience any problems, I'll update this review.

Nautilus T514 Treadmill Customer Review
A fitness center favorite comes to the home
November 9, 2009 - By Derek G VINE™ VOICETo start, I echo another reviewer in saying that my treadmill was received in bad shape as the base frame and wheels had burst completely through the bottom of the cardboard box. I also discovered evidence of discoloration on the plastic side panels that are attached to the control panel. My best guess is it was subjected to a lot of weight being stacked on it as it traveled first by airline and then delivered by semi truck via a freight company. There was no use blaming either company as they would just deny everything but considering two of three reviewers report delivery problems, this suggests Nautilus may have a problem with their packaging. (My money's on the airline trashing it). Fortunately, aside from some scuffs and a little pressure discoloration on the side panels, the treadmill seems okay.
Assembly is quite easy but because the product is heavy you will likely need assistance. You simply lift the pre-assembled control panel straight up and screw in a nut and bolt on each side with the provided hardware. After that, bend the handlegrips toward you and screw them in. Finally, attach the two side panels to each side of the control panel and you're ready to go. I found the left side was easy to screw everything into while the right side of the machine I wasn't able to screw in the parts without a lot of exertion. I most likely stripped some threads to get the screws tightened in so I wonder if there may be some quality issues in the manufacturing process. Perhaps it was the first day on the job for one of the people drilling holes in the frame. I also found that the wheels didn't roll but that may have been due to the delivery problems.
IMPORTANT NOTE: Before assembly be sure you place the box in the room you ultimately wish to use your treadmill in. Even when folded up, the machine is 32 inches wide; larger than many doorways.
This treadmill is my first but I have used many others at membership gyms and at friends' houses. Comparing this treadmill to others, the first thing that comes to mind is, at a whopping 72 inches in length with 54 inches of space to walk or run on, this treadmill is much longer than the residential treadmills I usually see. The second thing I noticed was I was scared to death of pulling this 200+ lb machine around with the bed tilted up. I later figured out they have a tiny shock absorber to help slow things down when you're bringing the treadmill bed back down to the floor. Even with the shock absorber, don't let go of the bed as it's dropping as it will still hit the floor with a loud thunk (and may even put a hole in it.) I wish there was a way to put a pin between the bed and base for added safety while moving it. If you wish to store the machine you will need a space that is 37"L x 32"W x 66"H.
I knocked off a star because Nautilus gives you only five feet of electric cord for a three foot wide machine. The plug is located almost on the right edge of the machine, meaning if your electric plugs are located to the left, you must place the treadmill within two feet of the electric plug. To make matters worse, the instructions specifically say you can't use an extension cord or surge protector. Nautilus needs to give residential customers a longer cord. I also found it odd that we have to go to the front of the machine, to a spot next to where the electric cord plugs in, to turn the machine on and off. There is no power button on the control panel and it doesn't appear to shut down during inactivity. Both of those should be fixed to make the treadmill more energy efficient. I was also upset to read that Nautilus wants us to lubricate the machine with 100% silicone lubricant before use. If this is as important as the instruction book indicates, then a small amount should be provided as most households don't have this lying around (WD-40 isn't an acceptable substitute). In fact, the only thing I could find at a large hardware chain was a can of Dupont Teflon/Silicone lubricant. Fortunately, a call to Nautilus confirmed this was okay to use. I still needed some direction on how much to use as the instructions were sparse. According to customer service at Nautilus, we should spray a line across the underside of the belt, roll the belt halfway around manually, then do it again. Until Nautilus starts providing lubricant with this treadmill, I suggest including LifeSpan Fitness 100% Silicone Treadmill Belt Lubricant in your order.
In comparison to other treadmills, there is none of the belt slippage as you run or walk in forward motion. In fact, this is the only treadmill I have used that doesn't have this annoying problem. The motor is quite powerful and fast too. The display shows you the time you have been running, the distance (in km or mph) you ran, and the estimated calories you have burned (always so little!) My favorite display flips between the mph you are running and how long it will take you to run a full mile. Unless you can run a mile in less than five minutes I see little reason to upgrade to the more expensive T516. This bed is rated to support 350 lbs of weight, and given the strength of the frame I think the number is conservative, so it should be able to hold everyone except South Carolinians. I found the walking belt to be centered perfectly but you can adjust the tension or move the belt to the left or right using an included hex key. I did find a problem with the plastic rails on each side of the bed. Nautilus wants us to stand on these when we start the treadmill, however I notice noise coming from them as if they are scraping the belt or bed. The noise stops once we move from the rails on to the walking belt itself.
Workouts consist of either manual or pre-programmed workout modes (i.e. climbing a hill, fast and slow intervals, a heart rate control program, or a custom value for time, speed, and incline that you can program yourself.) The T516 model gives you an extra of each of these programs (three instead of two.) The program features are all nice, but frankly I enjoy the manual mode the best because we have the incline level adjustment (0-12 degrees) using an up/down switch on the left handlebar and the speed control (0-12mph) using a switch on the right handlebar. The grips also include a metal heart rate monitor but I'm knocking off a star because I didn't find these to be very accurate; either that or my heart rate instantly jumps from 85 to 120 then back again. I think it's important people know their heart-rate accurately or they could easily over-exert themselves on a treadmill this powerful. The Polar brand chest strap heart rate monitor seems accurate and it works as long as you wet the electrodes first and strap it to your bare skin. Because of the yuck factor of the entire family using, and sweating on one Polar monitor, it could be a nice feature to include one or two more to make the treadmill more family friendly.
Customer service at Nautilus was very responsive and Courtney in particular was very friendly in spite of being bombarded with my questions. The so-called 10 year warranty is a little disingenuous because items defined as wear items (grips, foam, rubber, and plastic parts) have only a 90-day warranty and the belt has only a year warranty. In my opinion, anyone dropping this kind of money on a treadmill should have at least a one year on everything. Still, even the sweatiest of South Carolinians shouldn't be able to wear through the foam handlegrips. Maybe.
As I was reviewing everything, I couldn't help but think that this was a gymnasium strength treadmill that Nautilus suddenly decided to offer to residents without taking into consideration the special needs residential users have. Considering Nautilus also owns the famous Bowflex home gyms it seems odd that they haven't thought things through a little more. I'd like to give them high marks for the machine's strength, steel frame, and overall toughness but the little things like the power cord, the side rails, the metal heart rate monitors, and the disingenuous warranty make me hesitate a little. Above all, the treadmill packaging must be upgraded so it's idiot proof or Nautilus will be fielding a lot of calls from upset customers. I give them a solid three stars.
Hope the review helped.

Customer Review
Great lifetime value, built strongly !! March 17, 2011By J. Ung VINE™ VOICE
I've been exercising on the Lifefitness' commercial model treadmill at my gym for over three years. It's a great treadmill, and I've never had any issues or complaints. Since it's a commercial model, it's huge and bulky; it's probably built to last long for the heavy usage at a gym or a fitness center. Well, that's good, except the price of over $5000. That's a half of ten grand. Their noncommercial models are maybe $1000 less, but I still can't say they are in an affordable price range. Having said that, the Sole F85 is well under $5000, to be exact it's now at $2000 with free shipping. I am mentioning the price first because at this price, I think the affordability comes first when considering a treadmill. And I think F85 is affordable without sacrificing the quality and the value compared to Lifefitness' overpriced models.
Assembling took about an hour by myself, and I did not have any issues with missing parts or mismatching joints. The assembly instruction wasn't the easiest thing to follow, but it did the job. One difficult thing in assembling was the weight. This machine is very heavy to move around, so I recommend finding the perfect spot to put this before you start assembling.
Operating was quick and easy for me since I've been using Lifefitness treadmills for a long time, but, generally, anyone can figure out the operation within a couple of minutes. All the buttons are big and responsive so it's easier to access when running fast. Both inclining and speeding was gradual but quick. Also, the safety key worked well; when I pulled it, the treadmill immediately slowed down and stopped. There are incline and speed buttons on the side bars as well, and that's kind of convenient for a quick change. Lastly and most importantly, it runs smooth.
I consider a couple of things seriously, however. A) Comfort. It is important to have enough space on the treadmill when running. F85 might be slightly smaller in width compare to Lifefitness' bigger model I am used to, but I did not feel crammed on this one either. The second to take seriously is shock absorption. I do not have strong knees and I can't run on the asphalt so it is important to have a good shock absorption system. I've been running around 3 miles/day a couple of times a week for over a month now, and I don't have any pain (yet) on my knees and feet. The final aspect to consider is the noise of the machine. I can tell Sole's F85 is quieter than Lifefitness' when under 5mph, but when I run around 6mph, I think the noise level is about same. But I do like that this machine is less noisier in low speed; this perk is particularly convenient, because often times I choose to run in low speed at night when my son is asleep, and fortunately, this machine is minimally noisy that it does not wake him up (he is quite the light sleeper).
There are some additional features I'd like to mention. The first is the cooling fan. There are two fans above the LCD screen, and it's only position adjustable (not speed). The size is quite small (like the ones in the computer box), so I didn't expect much, but actually, it was very nice to have them running while exercising. The fan speed is not too strong or weak; it just gives little breezes, but it feels different from not having one before. Another feature is the technology. This treadmill doesn't offer too much current technology such as ipod/iphone compatibility, usb port for data output, color lcd with catch animations and graphics, etc. And that's what I like about. Less technology is better on some things, I think, and this treadmill is one of them. I'm sure there's a treadmill that can support all kinds of devices and do everything wireless, but had the manufacturers put all these techie features in the F85, the price wouldn't be at this range. And it is no secret technology outdates too quickly, so I find this important. I've seen this happening on my ipod speakers and many iphone compatible accessories. I can't just change my treadmill every year. The LCD screen is not color or touch screen, and I could care less; I do not think it's necessary as well. However, there are those who would disagree. I also favor the fact that I can lift and position the deck, which can help save some room if you live in a small or apartment or simply want to make a little extra room around the machine. I find this feature pretty awesome!
There are a couple of cons. There are two deep pockets big enough for water bottles on the dash board and that works well for me. But there are other bottle holder pockets under the dash board, probably at knee height, and it's not a convenient spot to put and grab bottles while running. Another con are the speakers. I can connect my iPod (only audio input), but the speaker quality is not too good (this part of technology I do find important). I was not expecting too much, but these speakers can be better quality, considering the price of the machine.
Overall, the machine is easy to assemble and use, is affordable, and valuable (more motor power than Lifefitness' lower end model). Lastly, the quality of the machine is high; it's built in heavy steel, and is meant to last a very long time. So long as consumer takes good care of the machine, this treadmill could last years. The machine also comes with various warranties: lifetime on motor, deck, and frame, and 5 years on electronics, belt, rollers, and other small components, and 2 years on labor (this information can be found on the website). For all that is offered, this machine is perfect for anyone!
Very nice treadmill December 26, 2010
By Chad Lowe
This treadmill looks very nice and feels very solidly built. I was able to assemble myself in about an hour and everything lined up perfectly. It runs relatively quiet. The display shows all parameters (distance, time, calories, speed, etc) all at the same time. My old treadmill had one numeric display that would cycle these parameters. The lap display was also a very nice added feature. The integrated fans do not blow very hard, but provide a nice breeze. This treadmill has built-in speakers. While they won't please audiophiles, they are more than adequate for working out. The deck folds up smoothly with almost no effort.
The only negative point about this treadmill is that the speed does not change very fast. This is most annoying when slowing down. It took about 45 seconds to slow from 6 mph to 2 mph. Perhaps this is a safety feature, I would have liked it to be a bit more responsive. It does speed up much faster than that, however.
The treadmill was delivered in two days. The delivery folks were going to leave it in the garage because that is all they are responsible for. However, my wife slipped them a little cash and they carried it to the basement. Like I mentioned, the unit was very easy to assemble by a single person.
Pros:
Excellent display. Ease of assembly. Solidly built. Quiet. Speakers.
Cons:
Speed adjustment a little sluggish.

Great Treadmill, March 11, 2012By DeBate
After much research on trying to find the perfect treadmill for myself this seemed to be the perfect fit. I didn't have a very high budget, and this seemed to have all the perks plus that I was looking for. I have had this treadmill for over a month and love it! I am very happy with the purchase. Delivery was fast and easy. Assembly was easy and not time confusing at all. I have had no problems. very stable and works perfect for my everyday use. I would say for people who are looking for something to run on this may not be the perfect fit. it works wonderful for a fast paced walk. very quiet motor and belt. all and all I am so pleased with this treadmill!
Nice and quiet...yesss! But watch the console assembly, February 7, 2012
By Seychellois
Very nice machine, wow have they made progress over the last ten years. I bought my last mill at Sears in 2002 and this unit was $200 cheaper, quieter and has speakers and a fan. This represents the Moore's law of treadmills!!
I had it shipped free courtesy of prime. That worked well, no damage at all but the delivery persons definitely did not hit the schedule. They were way early which was a hassle since I had to leave work and be at the house when they showed up. It worked fine for me because I am a short commute from work but it would be a bummer for someone who was 45 minutes from home.
Others have dissed the fan. They were right, its about as strong as a laptop fan so if you are an integrated chip you will be happy. If you are a human being this thing will not cool you off. A little gimmicky if you ask me. The speakers are cool though. I can set my Android up on Pandora and listen to the radio via the speakers, they are not JBLs but they work fine. The machine is so quiet you don't need much volume.
Display has all the stuff I need. Frankly these treadmills are beginning to look like the 80s Japanese stereo systems with a million blinking lights and goofy functionality that no one but NASA could possibly use. NASA wouldn't even use them because they don't launch treadmills into outer space. But I digress. This treadmill is simple with well thought out display and functionality.
So as anyone who is anyone in the treadmill world will tell you, what you hear about the mill during the first week of ownership is pretty useless. Its a year or two later after you have sweated all over the thing, walked the equivalent of LA to SF and have spilled three or four red bulls on the deck that the men are separated from the boys. We'll just have to see on the reliability font but my first impression is a very good one.
With regard to assembly. It was pretty easy with one important caveat which was mentioned by other reviewers and which I ignored because I am an incorrigible idiot. When you install the control panel do not, repeat, do not, tighten any of the screws until you have all four screws started. Otherwise you will scandalize the neighborhood (think Ralphie loosing the lug nuts in " A Christmas Story")and then you will sit back sweaty and pissed off and think "gee wiz some of the reviewers on Amazon said not to tighten these screws until they were all started" and then you will try it the "Amazon way" and you will feel,as I did, like an incorrigible idiot.
one week update: I continue to be extremely happy with this unit. Quiet and capable of hauling my (curently) 218 lb body. I walk so can't comment on running. I will say at 3.2 MPH and at all inclines it remains quiet, sturdy and very comfortable.
Couple of nit noys:
The user manual is useless. Must have been written by someone who never uses a treadmill. Prepare to figure out a bunch of things for yourself.
The thing beeps multiple times when you turn it on, when you turn it off, when you increase or decrease speed, when you look at it funny, etc. Enough with the beeping, totally ruins the chi of an otherwise very quiet mill.
As other reviewers have noted, you can not enter your weight so the calorie counter is effectively useless unless you are some nominal weight which, of course, they do not identify. If you knew that weight you could calculate an adjustment table. This is a pretty silly oversight IMO.
Otherwise it is a great mill and I have seen nothing which would change my mind about my purchase.

Nice home treadmill, June 25, 2012By speedyPete07
Im pretty pleased with the sole f-80. This was my first home treadmill so i was very nervous about the purchase. I do most of my training outdoors but during the winter and extreme heat of the summer its very nice to have. I run on average around 3-4 miles @8-9MPH. Im 6' 190 and the machine holds up very well. It feels solid and doesnt have any cheap feel about it. Ive had it for about 6 months so far and if it holds up i will be very pleased with the investment. ****NOTE***** if you plug this into an outlet on a ARC Fault detection breaker you will likely trip the breaker on a regular basis. It happens with me almost every time but my fiance (5'2 110lbs) does not have any problems. I just run an extension cord to a different outlet when i use it. Bottom line: If your in the market for a solid treadmill to "run" on and dont want to spend the cash for a commercial treadmill this one should fit the bill.
Good treadmill, May 8, 2012
By Active Media
Bought this treadmill two weeks ago after reading the reviews and wife wife and I love it. It has the basic features you need to kick start your exercise program. This treadmill is very heavy but assembly was easy about 1/2 hr). Once it is assembled, you just hop on and start. There is a safety latch in case you slip and good pre set programs. We feel very comfortable on this. The buttons on the front panel are very intuitive and straight forward. Delivery was on time and item was in good working condition.
great for running, but several non-running issues prevent from being much better December 15, 2010
By SG
I am a regular amazon customer and frequently buy here but somehow for this purchase, I decided to buy from Sole directly. The delivery was not fast, took 10 days but the box was in great shape and the delivery service was good (I paid for the delivery to any room, which I highly recommend if you have to negotiate stairs with this 300 pound box).
The running surface is excellent, my wife is the main user and she has put more than 5 miles a day on this machine at more than 7 miles an hour for 45 days so this thing is getting some great use. The running surface is cushioned well as advertised. The fact that the buttons are set for predefined (4, 6, 8, 10 miles/hr) does not bother me so much but the time it takes to speed up or slow down to the predefined speed is noticeable.
Some of the accessories are funny in my mind. I think adding the fan is kind of unnecessary since it adds little to no benefit. I also think the speakers are of course not excellent quality. I have found the "music pass through" (plug my iphone to the treadmill and then speakers to the headphone jack) to be very useful as I can now control the music while running. The cup holder is in a very awkward position (lower shelf below console), don't imagine you could actually use this while running.
I have used the heart rate belt with great results and find it very useful but the handlebar heart-rate monitor has not worked for me. I considered calling Sole about this but honestly, you can't run or even walk comfortably, holding them.
In regards to putting it together, it was not difficult except I had some difficulty getting the plastic covers over the siderails-console) to line up well. I only needed help with moving the running surface out of the box (heavy) and then some help holding the console in place (light) while screwing pieces together. I put it together in less than an hour. I really like the folding mechanism. My 100 pound wife could comfortably raise and lower this with no danger (the lowering is vacuum assisted to prevent it from falling on someone).
Overall:
running surface 4-5 stars (quiet and soft)
controls: 3 stars (awkward set up with some of the settings and time to speed up/down)
accessories: 2 stars (poor location and or poor function)

performs better than expected May 6, 2011By pookieswife
VERY pleased with the Proform 705 CST treadmill - 75 miles in the 3 weeks I've owned it. Speakers are much better than expected so I can really blast the music and enjoy a nice jog! Only disappoint was delivery - not only did they run over my sidewalk and destroy several pieces of bluestone (never returned my calls - it was $500.00 to repair), but a few pieces of the treadmill were cracked so obviously they dropped it at some point. Fortunately it didn't impact the performance of the treadmill. Highly recommend it, but get a floor mat - especially if you have hard wood floors. It is impossible to put together with 1 person, but relatively easy with 2 people - just carefully read the instructions and follow the correct order to assemble. (Sounds obvious, but an overzealous husband who "knows what he's doing" had to start over a few times.)
satisfied June 13, 2011
By J. Cheung
I've have been running on the Proform 705 CST treadmill almost every day for the past two weeks since I got it and have, so far, been satisfied with it. It is smooth and stable while providing ample cushioning for my 5'8, 153lb frame. Its console's quick speed and incline buttons are very handy, and its display easy to read. I have yet to try any of its programmed workouts or Ifit, but its 12 mph max speed and 12% max incline are sufficient for my fitness purposes. Some of its caveats include its lack of pace in the customary min/mile, its broken heart rate monitor, and its wildly inaccurate calorie counter. In addition, its speakers sound terrible. However, these are only minor issues that haven't affected my workouts. I haven't tried any of the other treadmills in this price range, but I would recommend this one to any recreational/fitness runner on a budget.

Customer Review
Very good treadmill, but the F80 is worth the few hundred more. January 16, 2011By Lisa in CT
This is a pretty good treadmill. I bought it based on Sole's reputation & warranty. I did a lot of research before buying, but at the last minute couldn't bring myself to spend the [...] on the f80, so I went w/ the f63 on sale at Dicks for [...]. I figured since the f80 was more often recommended for die-hard runners and the f63 was reviewed as more than good enough for walkers & joggers, I'd save the difference.
I now regret my change in model. The f80 was much quieter. I have to have the tv volume up pretty high while using this one. The 80 was almost silent in comparison. The belt on the 80 was twice as thick. The deck cushion was better on the 80, it seemed to absorb your strides better, of course that's what [...] more buys (plus additional warranty time). The speed & incline on both are comparable. It does take a bit for the speed to catch up to the setting, but that's not really a big deal. One thing about either model is that Sole has this incredibly stupid design of a curved front cover over the front of the belt. Most other brands have a straight cover across, further up, away from where your feet land. Running is ok, but when you're walking, be careful not to step on this cover as to step forward. I think while running you are a bit farther back on the belt. It is an extremely bad design and is an accident waiting to happen - thank goodness the side handles are there to catch yourself. Others have mentioned this design flaw on other models too.
Anyway, if you can afford the f80, I recommend that model instead. If not, this is probably the top of the line treadmill you'll get for around [...].
Which ever one you buy, unless you have a couple of very strong friends to help you, go for the delivery and have them at least put it in the room you'll be using it in. Paying for set-up isn't really necessary, I got it set up in an hour or so, but this is VERY heavy and you'll need help!!
Love this treadmill! December 14, 2010
By tp
Prior to purchasing this treadmill, I did a lot of research online and tried out various treadmills at multiple stores. I just received this treadmill yesterday and so far I am loving it. It was delivered by ABF freight and everyone I talked to at ABF (including the delivery driver) was very helpful and friendly. My husband and one of his friends carried the treadmill down to our basement. My husband put it together in less than an hour. The treadmill is very quiet and easy to program. I love having the ability to create my own programs. I have found with other treadmills the speeds of programs vary too much (starting at 2 miles per hour which is way too slow). I also like the fan and being able to plug in my ipod. Only complaint... there really isn't a book holder on the treadmill. I usually like to read magazines while on the treadmill and I don't think it would stay in place very well. Overall this is an excellent treadmill and I am very happy with my purchase.

GREAT treadmill! March 14, 2011By A. Landry
I did a lot of research both online and in person before making this purchase. I used Consumer Reports as a source. I also went to several sporting goods stores, etc. and actually tried some out --- I found this to be the most valuable information -- first-hand. I was unable to try this actual model, but the T101 was available and I actually liked it even better than many of the more expensive models, so I was confident the T202 would be what I was looking for. The size is great -- not too big but big enough, has the right amount of horsepower. The speakers are not great, but I use a stereo or headphones with MP3 player, so not a big deal for me. My husband had no problems putting it together -- TIPS: make sure to have it in the actual room in which it will be used before putting it together -- it will probably not fit through the door afterwards. Also, make sure to read the troubleshooting tips -- I have found the negative reviews about being "shocked" to be from improper assembly. For the price, a very good mid-range treadmill. So far, I am very pleased. Finally, I chose this brand/model due to its cushioned deck -- it was so much more comfortable that the higher-priced brands/models! I would never have known this if I had not tried them out in person -- makes all the difference!
Solid treadmill, no real complaints, February 21, 2012
By knoxpf01
We purchased this treadmill about a month ago.
Shipping/delivery -- Took less than a week and was free through Amazon. Huge value there for an item that weighs in the neighborhood of 200 pounds. Delivery was through ABF. Once the item got to a local depot, ABF called us to set up a delivery time. Unfortunately their delivery window is 8:00-4:00 and they could not narrow it down any further. So the wife and I took shifts, both taking a half day off work. There was only one delivery guy, so they could only get it in the door. Couldn't move up or down stairs. We had to do that. Word to the wise -- DO NOT take it out of the box or remove the straps on the outside of the box until you have the item in the room where it will go. It becomes very, very difficult to move once the box is opened.
Assembly -- Took about 45 minutes, but would've been shorter if I had started with a ratcheting screwdriver with an allen bit. It comes with a couple handled allen wrenches, but trust me, the ratcheting screwdriver is your friend. Very intuitive, directions easy to follow. The last step in the instructions is to apply silicone under the running belt. Which is all well and good but it requires loosening of the belt. Which is all well and good except the manual says the belt comes shipped with the proper tightness. Which is pointless because the first thing you have to do is loosen it. So when you tighten it again you have to do quite a bit of tweaking to get it right. You don't really know when it's tightened properly except by look and feel. Which sucks a little.
Use/Interface -- If it has a cool down feature, we haven't figured it out. So once your run or walk is over, it just stops. I'm sure there's a way to program it to have a few minutes cool down at the end, but a button or easy way to do it would be nice. The ipod controls work great. Nike + works fine. Treadmill rattles a little when running but nothing major. Pretty smooth. We have it in a second floor room in a 112-year old house and it doesn't shake the room. In the room below it you can hear it and definitely know when someone is running (walking is quieter of course), but it's no big deal. So shock absorption is good. Heart rate monitor handles seem to work after a few seconds.
Overall -- For the price, this is a very good quality piece of equipment. It would be nice if it had a wireless heart rate monitor capability to work with a band. I think I read their next model up has this. We use it quite a bit and so far it is holding up well. We are very happy with this purchase.

Customer Review
A review from a fitness repair technician. March 15, 2012By Barry
I have been in the fitness repair business for about 10 years now (Owner of Cover Guard Fitness)servicing Baltimore Maryland and surrounding area. I have worked on most Makes & Models from every treadmill manufacturer. I thought I would give a little incite in the business.
If your on the fence about buying this treadmill, just buy it. This treadmill is absolutely no frills. So if you're looking for ipod/mp3 support, dozens of programs and virtual touch screens etc, you will want to look elsewhere. Nordic Track sells THOSE types of treadmills that are all FRILLS and horrible quality parts. Nordic Track sells nice looking treadmills that have a lot of nice features, but when it boils down to durability and longevity, you will not find that in Nordic Track. I have serviced 1000s of Nordic Tracks where sometimes a part that is needed for a repair exceeds the price of the treadmill itself! Nordic Track re-brands their units as well (Reebok, EPIC, Pro Form) Same machines, different colors. End Rant.
This Precor treadmill has a 5 year warranty on all parts (1 year Labor.) Warranty is one of the first things you want to look at when deciding to buy a treadmill. For instance, a treadmill with a 1 year warranty, they are basically saying, Hey, here is a $1500 treadmill we think will last you about 1 year with no problems, GOOD LUCK!
Precor & Landice is where you should go for treadmills. Life fitness has some decent residential treadmills, but commercial treadmills is where they do well.
In conclusion
PROS:
5 Year PARTS WARRANTY, 1 YEAR LABOR
High Quality parts (Thick strong walking belt, 1 Inch thick Deck, strong motor and drive belt.
CONS:
No frills console (Lack of program diversity, no ipod/mp3 support.
If your looking for those features, you CAN try a nordic track but do buy the extended warranty if you must. Trust me, you'll need it.
Maintenance tips:
Wipe down the machine on a weekly basis (The side rails, and the small space between the side-rails and the belt. Wipe down sweat off machine.

Customer Review
Good deal, way better treadmill than I had before March 23, 2011By Peter Ortiz
We've had the treadmill now for a couple weeks. I really like it. We had a proform 630DS bought from craigslist a couple years ago and it was dying. Based on Consumer Reports ratings and other research, I decided on this model.
The setup wasn't too bad; just follow the directions. It will go faster with 2 people.
It's UBER quiet. But, that's based off my previous treadmill that sounded like a freight train. The motor, deck, supports, etc, are all very sturdy from what I can tell.
My wife likes the quick buttons and the pre-programmed workouts and uses it at least every other day. I usually run 1 - 2 times per week at 8mph and 4.5 grade with occasional sprints of 10 and 12...I have no idea if that's good or not compared to other users. There is no slippage reported and the deck stays comfortable.
All in all, I would definitely recommend this product. Am very happy with it. If something changes, I'll update the review.
Great treadmill for home, March 6, 2012
By martian12
I recently upgraded to the ProForm Power 995 from a very old treadmill. I've been very happy with it. It took about 3 hours to put together, but the instructions were clear and we had no mysterious parts left over. The tread is extra long and glides smoothly and sits atop a superbly stable deck. The quick buttons are great for manual programs and quickly changing up the speed and incline. The programs aren't too bad, but some of them were not of an intensity I prefer. I was constantly bumping up the speed and/or incline to challenge myself. My husband suspects this was intentional to encourage the use of the iFit function, but that's not something I've tried yet. The pulse sensors aren't consistently accurate, but I don't need a meter to tell me whether or not I'm in a-fib, so that's not a huge issue. The fan has two (barely indiscernible) speeds and is a nice feature. The speakers are pretty darn good. The deck is easy to lift into the stowed position and even easier to lower. Overall, I'm very pleased with this machine!

Geat So Far May 22, 2011By ken
I recevied my treadmill 2 days ago and I'm glad I went with the Lifespan 3000 over other models in a similar price range. The quality seems good for the price and coincides with the positive ratings and reviews I've read. The design is simple and clean. I like that the console is a minimal size and not one of those large cheap plastic consoles. Assembly was no problem but requires two people to move the boxed item.
By the way, the console seems to have been designed to be able to lay a lap top for viewing while walking. I purchased this treadmill because I spend long hours working at home on a computer and wanted to create a treadmill worksation. With this model I could have just positioned a laptop on the treadmill and it have worked fine, but I've gone all the way and setup a wall shelf for a monitor and lay a small piece of plywood across the console and front handle bar to hold a keyboard and mouse. Works perfectlty and I can work while I walk at 1.7 mph.
The Best Treadmill I've Used March 21, 2011
By S. Datla
My TR3000i arrived last week, and is the most beautiful and rugged treadmill I've owned or used (at Gym). The construction, frame and console are very sturdy, with careful attention to every bit of detail. I had a few questions, and called Lifespan fitness. The sales and support teams were very helpful (compared to my earlier experience with Icon Fitness/Health Rider -- where support is pretty much non-existent!). In all, I am extremely satisfied with the Company and their product and strongly recommend their product. I exercise very regularly at a local gym, and at home when I cannot make it to the gym; I've used a lot of equipment and this treadmill is very good!

Customer Review
You want a treadmill and you want to run January 28, 2012By A Regular Joe
WHO IS THIS FOR?
There are people like you and me who want to get in shape, and then there are avid runners who will tear down a treadmill piece by piece before telling you that its junk if it doesn't cost $3,000 and come from a certain brand.
I'm the type who just wants to run - I am overwieght again, feel terrible all the time, but live in a climate where it is hard to run and have a busy life which makes it even more difficult if I can't work out on my own time. I also want a good quality treadmill that isn't going to break on me, but I really don't care if it has a thousand features I'll never use. That's why I finally settled on this treadmill. It has a good strong motor, does the basic stuff you'd expect from a treadmill, has a quality construction for its price point, good customer service, and is recommended at several different stores for a no frills treadmill.
ASSEMBLY
The treadmill is a beast - plan on 3-4 people to help you get it in the house if you don't want to pay for installation. Apart from the sheer weight it is easy to put together, you just attach the legs and the control panel and you are set to run. It has enough extras to be interesting, but is well built.
RUNNING
The belt turns at various speeds. Get on. Run. Pretty straight forward. As someone who isn't overly concerned about all the details we have been very pleased with the treadmill. The only major difficulty is moving the treadmill. Assemble it where it is going to stay. We ended up deciding to move it from one room on the same level to another, just about 20 feet, and that was a serious chore. I hope we never move because I can't imagine getting it up the stairs.
As long as you are looking for a good basic treadmill, and have the $800-1000 for quality, you'll be happy with this. The 400-600 range really seems like junk.
4/5 stars.

Great Workout January 4, 2012By Ima Bird
Takes some time and concentration to assemble. Unlikely that one person could do it. Very heavy and delivery guy works alone and does not want to help bring it into your house. Slides well on the carpet. Fairly large and needs an outlet of it's own to keep from burning it up. We hired an electrician to install an outlet and he charged $130.00. If you do not have a separate outlet your warranty may not be valid.

Customer Review
From the Novice Point of View, June 15, 2012V. Condon "Just Browsing" (So Cal)
I'm no expert on treadmills, and I'm not much for writing reviews, and I haven't had the product for too long, but I had to comment that I completely love this treadmill. I previously had the Pro-form, and when someone ran on it the noise was such that everyone else pretty much had to leave the room. With this treadmill we can sit in the same room watching TV with no issue. In terms of logevity I cannot comment, and I had my Pro-form for 10 years, so we were quite bonded. But how quickly I've turned my back because the size, smoothnes, noise level of this treadmill puts my old treadmill to shame. I will repost if we have any issues but for now I'll say it was completly worth paying a little extra for this machine.
Gotta love this treadmill, January 26, 2012
By T.Ling
Alright where to start probably the cons list. It's heavy.. I mean heavy around the 300lb mark easily which for me requires my husband to move by himself it's heavy but managable it does have wheels. Now for the good everything. The fan is basic and simple two speeds low and high which work well for me. The space saver feature is nice and it lets down nice and easy when released compared to some treadmills that drop. I wanted something that I could use to help me get exercise since I am pregnant. While I don't run on the treadmill I've noticed a lot of negatives about the quick buttons when in quick start mode.
TO MAKE THE 2-4-6-8 SPEED AND INCLINE TO WORK WHILE IN QUICKSTART MODE SIMPLY HIT THE BUTTON THEN HIT ENTER TO CONFIRM YOU WANT THAT SETTING CHANGED.
Sorry it wasn't hard to figure out and frustrating when people in some reviews say it doesn't work well sorry it does, it just doesn't instantly change. I find that you need to confirm a good thing it gives you a second to decide and if it was an accident don't hit enter and it will stay at the same speed you had originally. The profiles take a second to set up but the manual helps. I also find the chest band heartrate moniter to be very nice. If your a tall person it would be easier to use than the hand rails probably. I also like that I'm not stuck only doing the .5 incriments for speed. Sometimes 2.5mph is to slow and 3mp is too fast. Since I walk for my overall pregnancy health I find it to be a wonderful addition to my home. It will also be used for running and jogging from me after my pregnancy is over. My husband finds the treadmill easy to use and while he doesn't use it as much as me (he does pt 5days a week) he'll still hop on a few times a week to get a quick run in. It's an awesome treadmill. I like that the power button is by the motor and circuit breaker and away from all the buttons closer to the power source. I also like that if you don't have the safe key in it will not run. I find it safe and while it takes a few extra seconds it's worth it. It only takes two seconds to push the button on and put the key in. If you leave the key in then less time. I find if you complain about the little things then your expecting way to much from a personal treadmill. The ones in the gyms are not like the ones for sale regularly to the public we get regular the gyms have industrial meant to be on 24/7 and take a pounding constantly. While it may seem like a personal one could'nt take a pounding during a workout it can. This is a solid treadmill, it's not made for being on 24/7 it's made for a family to use and pound away the miles on. It's also lighter than the industrial and has such a solid frame. Frankly besides it being heavy I see no downsides to it. I love all the features, how simple it is to use, set up and maintain (I did read the manual which did not take long at all). Frankly I've gotta say Schwinn's 860 treadmill really makes me feel happy. It gives me a source in my home to get a cardio workout and really has been a wise purchase for me. Bottom line is I love this treadmill.

Sturdy!, May 14, 2012By BSmith22
Given the affordability of this treadmill, I tried not to expect too much but bought it based on the great reviews. When it came, I was instantly impressed with the sturdiness of the parts. It took my husband and I about three hours to put together, but the instructions were understandable and provided easy-to-follow diagrams.
We've now had it for a few weeks and have logged almost 50 miles on it, split between my husband and me. I was initially worried as to how it would handle my husband's 250 lbs and large frame (especially when he's sprinting at an incline), but it can take a beating and keep on going.
My only complaint is that the display is not back-lit, so we had to purposely place the treadmill directly under an overhead light in our dimly-lit basement so that we would be able to read the display. It's a helpful display, though, providing mileage, calories burned, distance, heart rate, incline and speed.
Overall, I'm very impressed with the quality of this treadmill at this affordable price!
Nice machine!, May 10, 2012
By Schmoopie. (Arizona)
I bought this a little over a month ago and have been very happy with it. It looks and works like the treadmills that cost $1000. The price/value ratio is excellent. The digital display is a bit primitive and should be upgraded, but I can overlook that when all things are considered. Can't believe that Amazon shipped it for free! All things considered, it functions properly, runs quietly, and looks pretty stylish in the house. I would highly recommend.

Happy Overall, May 17, 2012By San Jose Suzie
I had read reviews on this treadmill before purchasing it, and they were helpful and accurate. The unit is a good space-saver, much quieter than the old treadmill I was replacing, and has an easy-to-read display. I would prefer not being responsible for lubricating the deck under the belt when it first arrives, and I'm still not sure the belt is adjusted properly; it appears to be centered at the back but is way off center at the front. Many people said the speakers were worthless, which is totally true. Only half the sound came out when I connected my iPod, so I assume one speaker is not working or not connected, but I prefer to use the iPod earbuds, anyway. Overall, I'm happy with the unit for the price. I just walk to my music, so I won't be giving it a hard work-out. When you're already over the hill, you don't have to keep running to get over it! I'll just be happy if I can remember where the ON button is.
So far, so good., April 20, 2012

Delivery, packaging, removal from packaging. UPDATED see below.
1. A carrier called "Pilot" is the company that takes care of the shipment. They will call you to arrange a delivery time when the treadmill is in your area (this applies to Super Saver Shipping also, don't be fooled into paying shipping costs by the "choose standard shipping" notice.) Make sure you tell the delivery guys to be careful, because a lot of people mentioned about the casing of the treadmill being cracked. This is due to the way the treadmill is "protected" in it's box.. it's more protected on one side than the other.. so if it's banged into something on the wrong side, you may end up with a cracked casing, or even a broken deck if it's dropped.
2. It's a little hard to get out of the packaging if you're doing it on your own.. I'm about 5 foot 4, and my 5 year old son helped, by moving the box when I held one end of the treadmill up and then the other side.. it would have been easier if I had decided to destroy the packaging, but I never do that just in case I have to ship something back......see all customer reviews

Customer Review
Surprisingly good for few $$, May 15, 2012By HD Video guy (NH USA)
I bought this unit to create a walking desk for my home office. It's short enough to fit the space I need. The build quality is pretty good. The arm assembly is not as solid as a $2000 treadmill, but what do you expect? It's easy to move, and folds up to a small footprint. This machine is noticeably quieter than a large NordicTrack treadmill I owned. I'm 5'8" and the stride length is OK for me. I use it at 2mph, which keeps my stride length short and still allows for decent control using a computer mouse. I put the mouse and keyboard on a thin, stiff board that rests on the handlebar assembly, right where the padding for your hands starts. Works great.
The machine developed a squeak on the right side of the walking deck, which is a 3/4" sheet of some strong material with super-slippery top surface. This sheet was rubbing very slightly against the metal frame. I had a can of 100% silicone spray, and gave a quick, sweeping shot of silicone down the length of the deck on each side, spraying it in between the top of the deck and the plastic sideguard pieces. Problem solved. I then locked the deck in the upright storage position and turned on the machine to a slow speed. I gave a few squirts to the underside of the belt, just as it hits the drive roller at the front of the machine. This lubed the belt, and made the walking experience even smoother. Warning: Silicone spray is almost impossible to get off, so protect your floor with newspapers, and wipe up any excess. Also, don't get silicone on the top of the walking belt! Final safety note: if you have toddlers playing near the machine as it runs, there is a pinch hazard if they stick their hand in under the belt at the back of the walking surface.
That's it. I would buy it again. This is a great value.
