Smooth Fitness 7.35 Treadmill

July 21, 2012 - By Michael S. Mckinney
I have been delighted with this treadmill since I ordered it over 1 year ago. The delivery was great - it comes in folded down in one great big box. Assembly was very easy. The cables were pre-run though the tubes, the directions for assembly were easy to follow, and it was packed very efficiently!

I have run several hundred miles and after one year the treadmill shows little to no wear. The belt looks like it did day one! all the mechanical parts appear to be solid and when I run there is no shaking, unusual noises or broken parts. I run a lot and tend to be hard on treadmills and this has handled the first year flawlessly.

The only thing that could use some development for the future is the fan. It is pretty worthless for cooling. I use a large fan for every run anyway so this isn't a deal-breaker for me. Outside of the fan, this treadmill is super solid and I would recommend for anyone!

I'm not sure all of the negative reviews are legit

July 2, 2012 - By Brian Pozar (Visalia, CA United States)
I spent a lot of time researching the treadmill I wanted to buy. I looked at places like Consumer Reports and Treadmill Doctor for advise. I also relied heavily on Amazon.com reviews.

I just received a 7.35 on 6/29/12, purchased directly on Smooth's website, and so far it is working great.

After looking at Sole and Nordictrack at my local Sears and some of the other brands at the local sporting goods store, I was let down. Nothing seemed to have the quality I wanted except for non-folding models from high-end companies like Precor. But I needed a folding model and kept coming back to Smooth for the features and apparent quality (Consumer Reports gives high marks).

I almost let the bad reviews sway me but then I thought about the fact that the competition is perfectly capable of posting smearing reviews. I can't tell you what percent of negative reviews are made up or legitimate but I can tell you that you should not count Smooth out during your evaluation process. I took a leap of faith by ordering it and I'm very happy that I did. I don't doubt that there have been quality issues and lemons, that's a part of manufacturing, but my experience has been very positive.

By the way, I'm 260 lbs and I can jog on this thing without a problem. The quality of the machine and the packaging that it comes is is outstanding. You feel good when it is delivered that it arrived to you without damage.

I will say, the fan and speakers do indeed suck. Just keep a radio and bigger fan close by.

One note about their customer service. When I placed my original order, they ended up being out of stock. Their customer service called me to apologize for the delay that would cause and offered me a free mat to go under the treadmill.

If I experience any problems, I'll update this review.

Very good walking treadmill February 15, 2011
By mr.fixit
I needed a treadmill for walking and for my wife to do some jogging on. So after I stated looking one the net I came across the Smooth 5.65 and liked its price point and warranty but was worried about the low incline that a previous reviewed talked about. So I called one of the people at smooth fitness and they told me on the current "2011" model the unit did indeed have a 15% incline. He also assured me that the unit would be able to take my walking and my wife jogging but if I was going to start running i should upgrade to the next model. At 58 , with bad knees, I don't plan on doing any more running so I placed my order for the 5.65 and the sales person was nice enough to give me a $50 discount.

It took about two week to get, the box was heavier then I was expecting and had to call my son over to help me get it in the room. After that set up wasn't to hard. Once i set it up I busted out my protractor to measure the incline, which turned out to be about 14 1/2%, not quite 15% but much closer then the 8% one of the reviews had stated.

The unit runs quietly & smoothly (as one would guess from a company called smooth fitness). over all I'm very pleased with the machine and would recommend it to a friend.

Sturdy and Reliable!, June 24, 2012

My wife and I were looking to get into shape and after extensive research, we ended up choosing the Smooth Fitness 5.65 Treadmill and have been very happy with the purchase! The main thing we like about about it was the pricepoint. You'll be hard-pressed to find a treadmill of this quality under $1,000.00. The treadmill runs quietly and smoothly and is ideal for the recreational exerciser. The box was a bit heavier and bulkier than I had expected, so make sure you have an able-bodied friend nearby to help you with set-up. Other than that, this is a great product that I would recommend to anyone!

When our daughter moved away to college we decided to turn her room into a home gym. The Smooth Fitness 5.65 Folding Treadmill is one of the items we purchased and we couldn't be happier. The treadmill arrived quickly and was very easy to put together. We have the treadmill on carpet and purchased a pad to go underneath it. It is very steady and great for walking or running. When putting it together, each piece was labeled making it easy to identify what went where. We tend not to need to fold up the base because of it's location but it is very easy to move if needed. This was a great addition to our small home gym.
